1Password alternatives: sharing team credentials without a per-user licence

Prices checked between and

1Password is the benchmark for a team password manager, and past twenty people its Teams Starter Pack gives way to $8.99 per user a month. A small team or agency looking elsewhere wants shared collections per client or department, encryption the vendor cannot undo, a recovery path that does not weaken it, and an audit log — for less than a seat price per person. Here are the options, with published prices, and where 1Password remains ahead.

Why teams look past 1Password

Usually pricing and packaging, not the product

1Password is password manager and secrets vault for teams and businesses, expanding into device trust and developer secrets. The reasons a team shops around are almost always about how it is sold.

  • Teams Starter Pack covers ten members; growth means per-user Business pricing.
  • Identity-provider unlock and device trust are sold above Business.
  • A password manager is another user list to keep in step with HR.
  • Access does not end when someone leaves unless an admin remembers.

Orbiz Vault

What Vault covers — and what 1Password does that it does not

What Orbiz Vault does for a team leaving 1Password, and the two things 1Password does that it does not. Keep both in view when you decide.

Included in Vault

  • Logins, cards, identities and secure notes, encrypted on the device before they are stored
  • Collections and folders shared per client or department, with an audit log
  • Sends: expiring one-off links for passing a secret to someone outside the vault
  • Escrow recovery run by your admins, and a TOTP code on unlock
Everything Vault does

Where 1Password is ahead

  • Unlock with SSO and identity-provider provisioning (Okta, Entra, OneLogin, Duo)
  • Browser autofill and native apps on every platform

If either of those is the reason you use 1Password, keep it. The case for Orbiz is the platform around the tool, not a longer feature list.

FAQ

Questions about leaving 1Password

How does Orbiz Vault’s encryption compare with 1Password’s?

Both encrypt on the device with a key derived from something only the member knows, so the server holds ciphertext. Vault adds an escrow recovery flow your organisation’s admins control, so a forgotten passphrase is recovered without anyone reading the items and without a printed emergency kit.

Does Vault have browser autofill and mobile apps?

Not yet. Vault runs in its own browser tab with copy-to-clipboard; a browser extension with autofill and a mobile app are planned but not available. 1Password and Bitwarden both have them today, which is the clearest reason to choose one of them.

What happens to shared credentials when someone leaves?

Vault uses the same members and roles as every other Orbiz tool, so marking a person inactive in HRMS ends their access to every shared item in the same moment. The audit log shows which items they could read, so you know which credentials to rotate.
