Orbiz MCP

Your AI assistant, working in Orbiz as you

Orbiz MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and other assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol to your Orbiz organisation. Ask in plain words and the assistant creates the Cadence issue, logs the Trackline hours, requests the leave or finds the file — as you, with exactly the permissions your role already has, and nothing your organisation has not switched on.

81 actions across nine Orbiz tools, plus search · included in every plan · works with Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code

How it works

Three steps, and it acts as you

1

Copy your organisation’s address

Every organisation has its own MCP address. Find it in Settings → Connected AI apps, with one-click copy and the exact steps for each assistant.

2

Approve in Orbiz

The assistant sends you to an Orbiz consent page. You sign in as usual — two-factor included — and tick what it may do, tool by tool. Salary changes are never ticked for you.

3

Ask in your own words

The assistant sees only the tools your role can use and acts as you. Every action is recorded, and you or an admin can disconnect it at any moment.

Ask for the work, not the clicks

Examples of what people ask. The assistant only offers the actions your role can take.

Access control

An assistant never sees more than you do

One person, one organisation

A connection belongs to one member in one organisation. Its address and its token are bound to that organisation; the same token is refused anywhere else.

Your permissions, never more

Every request runs through the same permission checks as the web app. An assistant only lists the tools your role can use in tools your organisation has switched on, and a consent scope can narrow that further — never widen it.

Tokens that are not your password

Assistants sign in with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE and receive a random token Orbiz stores only as a hash. It cannot sign in to the web app, expires after an hour and is renewed only while the connection stays live.

Off-limits by design

Vault credentials and the attendance timer have no tools at all. Platform super-admin accounts cannot connect. Member look-ups return names only, and pay tools never return bank details.

A record of everything

Each action is logged with the tool, the outcome and the time — never the text of what was written. You see your own log; admins see the organisation’s.

Disconnect in one click

Disconnect any assistant from Settings → Connected AI apps. Changing or resetting your password, leaving the organisation, or an admin’s org-wide switch ends connections at once.

The platform itself — isolation, encryption, audit — is described on the security page.

Set up

Connect in under a minute

Your organisation’s address is inside Orbiz, in Settings → Connected AI apps, where an admin can also switch AI assistants off for everyone.

Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

  1. In Orbiz, open Settings → Connected AI apps and copy your organisation’s address.
  2. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the address. On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds it first.
  3. Press Connect, sign in to Orbiz and choose what Claude may do.

ChatGPT

  1. In Orbiz, open Settings → Connected AI apps and copy your organisation’s address.
  2. In ChatGPT on the web, turn on Developer mode in Settings, then create an app for a remote MCP server with that address and OAuth sign-in.
  3. Sign in to Orbiz when asked and choose what ChatGPT may do. Deep research can search and read your Orbiz content.

Claude Code

  1. In Orbiz, open Settings → Connected AI apps and copy the ready-made setup line for Claude Code.
  2. Run it in your terminal, then choose Authenticate when Claude Code asks you to sign in.
  3. Approve in the browser window that opens.

Other MCP clients

  1. Use the Streamable HTTP transport with the address shown in Settings → Connected AI apps.
  2. The server publishes OAuth discovery metadata, supports dynamic client registration and client ID metadata documents, and requires PKCE.

Orbiz MCP FAQ

What teams ask before connecting

What is Orbiz MCP?

Orbiz MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for your Orbiz organisation. It lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code read and act in Orbiz — Cadence, Trackline, AMS, HRMS, Notely, Filespace, Grabr and Ledgr — on behalf of one member, using that member’s own permissions.

Can an assistant see more than I can?

No. Every request runs the same permission checks as the Orbiz web app, for you, in your organisation. An assistant cannot reach a tool your organisation has switched off or a screen your role cannot open, and the scopes you approve can only narrow that further.

Which assistants work with Orbiz?

Claude (web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code), ChatGPT through custom connectors, and any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth. Each organisation connects through its own address, which you find in Settings → Connected AI apps.

Can an assistant change salaries?

Only if you run payroll and tick the salary scope yourself — it is never ticked by default. Even then, a direct salary change needs an explicit confirmation from the assistant, and proposing a revision for review is the gentler option it is offered first.

What can an assistant never touch?

Vault credentials and the attendance timer have no tools at all, platform super-admin accounts cannot connect, and nothing can be deleted through the connector. Pay tools never return bank details, and member look-ups return names only.

How do I disconnect an assistant?

Open Settings → Connected AI apps and choose Disconnect. It takes effect immediately. Changing or resetting your password disconnects every assistant, and an organisation admin can switch AI assistants off for everyone at once.

Does Orbiz MCP cost extra?

No. It is included in every plan, alongside all the tools, for every member of your organisation.
