Huddl · Team chat

Team chat that lives next to your projects, people and files

Create a huddl for your organisation, open channels for teams and topics, and message anyone directly. Reply in threads, react, pin what matters and save what you need later. Invite a client or contractor as a guest who sees only their channels, share files by dragging them in, and search every conversation you are part of.

Included in every plan. No per-seat charge, no per-tool upsell.

What you can do

What Huddl does

Channels, direct messages and threads for your organisation — with external guests, file sharing and search — behind the same login as every other tool.

01

Channels and direct messages

Public channels anyone can browse and join, private channels by invitation, and direct messages with one person or a group of up to nine. Several huddls per organisation — one for the company, one per client or project — each with its own channels.

02

Threads, reactions, pins and saved messages

Reply in a thread so the channel stays readable, react with an emoji, pin a message to the channel and save any message to your own list. Forward a message to another conversation, or schedule one to send later.

03

External guests

Invite a client or contractor by email. A guest account is limited to the huddls and channels it was invited to, cannot create channels or invite anyone, and is kept out of every other Orbiz tool.

04

Files and search

Drag a file into the composer or paste a screenshot; images preview inline and documents open in the viewer. Search every conversation you belong to, filtered by channel, person, date and whether a message has a file.

05

Favourites, profiles and a Huddl that looks like yours

Keep the channels and people you use most in Favourites at the top of the sidebar. Open anyone’s profile from their name to see their job title, status, local time and, for members, how to reach them. Choose one of twelve colour themes, clean or compact messages and a text size — and keep different preferences in each huddl.

06

Notifications you control

Set each channel to all messages, mentions only or nothing; mute it for a while; set a status and do-not-disturb. Direct messages and mentions reach the notification bell, your email and your browser according to your own settings.

Who it's for

Teams that get the most from Huddl

Teams paying per seat for chat
Every member of the organisation is already in, with no per-user bill and no seat to buy when someone joins.
Agencies and consultancies working with clients
A guest sees the channels you choose and nothing else — not the rest of the organisation, not the other tools.
Anyone switching tabs all day
Chat opens from the same launcher as attendance, projects and files, with one notification bell across the lot.

With your AI assistant

Ask Claude or ChatGPT to do it in Huddl

Connect an assistant through Orbiz MCP and it works in Huddl as you, with your permissions and nothing more.

What people ask

  • “What did I miss in Huddl since yesterday? Summarise the unread channels.”
  • “Post my standup in #engineering: yesterday the export fix, today the payroll review, no blockers.”
  • “Find where we agreed the launch date in Huddl last week.”

Your huddls, channels and direct messages: list them, read recent messages, search, see what is unread, post a message as you in a channel or to a member, and set your status.

5 things it can read, 2 it can change

  • List my huddls (read-only)
  • List channels and direct messages (read-only)
  • Read messages (read-only)
  • Search messages (read-only)
  • What is unread (read-only)
  • Send a message (changes something)
  • Set my status (changes something)

What an assistant cannot do here

  • Direct messages between other people
  • Creating, renaming or archiving channels, and inviting members or guests
  • Editing or deleting messages, reactions, pins and scheduled messages
  • Broadcasts: an assistant cannot send @channel or @here

One platform

Huddl is one tool of 10, not a silo

Huddl uses the same organisation members as every other Orbiz tool, so a message about a candidate, an issue or a payslip is one mention away from the person who owns it — and a guest invited to one huddl never sees the rest of the organisation.

Huddl FAQ

Questions about Huddl

Can people outside my organisation join a channel?

Yes, as guests. An admin invites a guest by email; the guest gets an account that sees only the huddls and channels it was invited to. A guest cannot create channels, invite anyone, or open any other Orbiz tool, and an admin can remove the guest at any time.

Can I keep my most-used channels and people at the top?

Yes. Add any channel or direct message to Favourites and it moves to its own section at the top of your sidebar. Favourites are yours alone; nobody else’s sidebar changes.

Does Huddl have voice or video calls?

Not in this release. Huddl is text, files and threads today; audio and video huddles are planned for a later release, and this page will say so when they are available.

Is my chat history searchable?

Yes. Search covers every conversation you belong to, with filters for channel, sender, date and messages with files. Messages are kept for as long as your organisation keeps them; there is no history limit on any plan.

How are messages formatted?

Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists, quotes, inline code, code blocks, links, @mentions, #channel references and emoji — from the toolbar, from keyboard shortcuts, or by typing the same shorthand you would use in Slack.

Can an AI assistant work in Huddl?

Yes. Through Orbiz MCP, Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code can take 7 actions in Huddl as you, with your own permissions. Your huddls, channels and direct messages: list them, read recent messages, search, see what is unread, post a message as you in a channel or to a member, and set your status. An assistant cannot reach: direct messages between other people; creating, renaming or archiving channels, and inviting members or guests; editing or deleting messages, reactions, pins and scheduled messages; broadcasts: an assistant cannot send @channel or @here. You approve access on an Orbiz consent page, tool by tool, and can disconnect at any time.
