How much does Slack cost for your team?

Enter how many people are in your workspace, pick the plan and the billing cycle, and add any guests who take a paid seat. The calculator prices the seats at Slack’s published list price, adds them up for a year, and sets the total against the Orbiz band your team falls in, where chat is included for every member.

Every active member is a paid seat on Slack’s paid plans.

Guests in more than one channel take a paid seat. Single-channel guests are free and need not be entered.

How Slack is priced

Slack charges per user per month, and the price depends on the plan and on how you pay. Pro is $7.25 per user a month billed annually, or $8.75 billed monthly; Business+ is $15 billed annually, or $18 billed monthly. Enterprise+ has no published price. Every active member of the workspace is a seat, so the yearly bill is the per-user price multiplied by the headcount and by twelve.

Guests are the one wrinkle. On the paid plans a single-channel guest, who can see one channel only, is free; a multi-channel guest takes a paid seat like a member. The calculator asks for the number of multi-channel guests and adds them to the seats.

For example, a team of 20 on Pro billed annually is $1,740 a year for chat; the same team on Business+ billed monthly is $4,320.

What the free plan leaves out

Slack’s free plan has no seat price, which is why many small teams start on it. It keeps 90 days of message history and ten app integrations, group huddles and group external messages start on Pro, and Slack deletes free-workspace data after a year. The moment the history matters, the team is on Pro, and the calculator shows what that costs at its size.

What the same team pays on Orbiz

Orbiz is priced by headcount band, not by seat: one monthly price for the organisation, billed annually, from $99 a month for up to 10 people, with all ten tools — Huddl for chat among them — for every member. Guests in Huddl are not counted in the band and cost nothing, so the calculator compares the Orbiz price for your members alone. Above 100 people Orbiz is quoted, so the calculator shows the Slack total without a comparison.

A team of 20 is $2,388 a year on Orbiz for up to 25 people, against $1,740 for Slack Pro alone. The comparison is between chat on its own and chat with the rest of the business; the honest difference is that Slack has huddles for calls, an app directory and a workflow builder, and [Huddl](/features/huddl) does not. The [Orbiz vs Slack](/compare/orbiz-vs-slack) page lists every row, including the ones Slack wins.

What the figure leaves out

List prices only. Slack runs introductory discounts and negotiates above a certain size, and Enterprise+ is quoted. Taxes are not included on either side. Slack’s AI features on paid plans, and anything you pay for apps from its directory, are not counted. The Orbiz price is for the organisation’s members; the band is set by headcount, and a team that crosses into the next band pays that band’s price.
