Slabs for tax year 2026-27 (2026-07-01 to 2027-06-30) from Finance Act, 2026 (Act No. XLIII of 2026), Gazette of Pakistan, 26 June 2026. An estimate for a salary paid evenly all year — not tax advice.
How the tax is worked out
Pakistan taxes a salaried individual on annual taxable income, not on a single month. The calculator multiplies the monthly salary by twelve, finds the slab the annual figure falls in, and applies that slab: its fixed amount plus its rate on the part of income above the slab’s lower limit. The annual tax is then divided by twelve to give the amount withheld each month.
In tax year 2026-27, the first Rs 600,000 of annual taxable income is not taxed. Further down this page, the slab table for each tax year lists every slab exactly as the Finance Act enacted it.
Who these rates apply to
These are the rates for a salaried individual: someone whose income under the head “salary” is more than 75% of their taxable income. A person whose salary is a smaller share — a business owner who also draws a salary, for example — is taxed on a different table, which this calculator does not use.
What changed in 2026-27
The Finance Act, 2026 kept the first three slabs as they were in 2025-26 and lowered the rates from Rs 2.2 million of annual income upwards. It split the top of the table into more slabs, so the 35% rate now starts above Rs 7 million instead of Rs 4.1 million, and it removed the surcharge on salaried individuals, which had been 9% of the tax above Rs 10 million in 2025-26.
What the figure leaves out
The result assumes the same taxable salary in every month of the tax year. An employer withholding through the year projects the annual income from what has been paid so far and what is still to come, so a raise, a bonus or a mid-year start changes the monthly deduction from that point on.
Enter taxable salary: gross pay less any allowance the law exempts. Tax credits, such as those for approved donations or pension contributions, and income other than salary are not included. Use the result as an estimate and confirm a return with a tax adviser.
Salary tax slabs by tax year
Annual taxable income for an individual whose salary is more than 75% of taxable income. Tax in a slab is its fixed amount plus the rate on income above the slab’s lower limit.
