AMS for healthcare & clinics

Attendance for a clinic that never closes: biometric punches, night shifts and leave that add up

A clinic’s roster does not fit a nine-to-five time tracker. Staff punch a fingerprint device at the door, a night shift starts on one calendar day and ends on the next, and a leave request has to reach the right person with the balance already known. AMS imports the device punches, records the shift on the day it belongs to, and routes leave to your approvers with the entitlement worked out.

Included in every plan. No per-seat charge, no per-tool upsell.

In practice

What AMS does for healthcare & clinics

01

Biometric punches imported, PINs mapped once

Export from the fingerprint or card device, import into AMS, and map each device PIN to a staff member one time. From then on every import lands on the right record, and a punch for a PIN nobody owns is flagged rather than silently dropped.

02

Night shifts recorded on the shift’s day

A shift that starts at 20:00 and ends at 06:00 is one attendance record on the day it started, not two half-days. Break types apply within it, so the hours a night nurse is paid for are the hours the record shows.

03

Leave with entitlements per type and approvals

Annual, sick, casual, probation and unpaid leave each carry an entitlement your organisation sets once. A request goes to the approver role — or to the reporting manager through the HRMS approval workflow — with the remaining balance already worked out.

04

One holiday calendar and reports per team

Public holidays and closure days are entered once per organisation and count as non-working days in every balance. Attendance and leave reports run per team and per period, and export as jobs so a year of records is not cut off at a page.

Where AMS hands off for a clinic team

AMS clocks against the staff record HRMS keeps — the one carrying the clinician’s registration and role — and its approved leave and hours are what Ledgr pays from at month end. A shift adjustment approved here changes the payroll timesheet; nobody re-keys a roster into a salary sheet.

Questions clinic teams ask about AMS

Which biometric devices are supported?

Any device that exports punches as a file — the common fingerprint and card terminals do. AMS imports the export, maps device PINs to staff once and reconciles the punches into attendance records. There is no live integration with a device’s own software; the import is the connection.

Can different sites have different holiday calendars?

Not within one organisation: the holiday calendar is set once per organisation and applies to everyone. A group whose sites observe different public holidays runs each site as its own organisation, which also gives it its own database. Per-site calendars are on the roadmap.

Can a manager correct a missed punch?

Yes. A member requests a correction with the times and a reason, and an approver with the right permission accepts it; the record shows both the original and the correction. An approver can also edit directly. Either path is logged with who and when.
