AMS for education & training

Attendance and leave that know when term starts, when it ends and which days the building is closed

An institution’s year is not a calendar year. Leave is taken in the holidays, closure days are not working days for anyone, and a request has to reach the head of department with the balance already known. A generic attendance tool gets all three wrong. AMS keeps one holiday calendar that carries term dates and closures, entitlements per leave type set once for the institution, and approvals that reach the right person with the balance shown.

Included in every plan. No per-seat charge, no per-tool upsell.

In practice

What AMS does for education & training

01

A holiday calendar built from the term dates

Enter term dates, closure days and public holidays once for the institution; entitlements, approvals and reports then count working days the way the institution does, so a request across half-term is charged correctly.

02

Leave types with entitlements set once

Annual, sick, casual, probation and unpaid leave each carry an entitlement your institution sets for everyone. Members see their remaining balance before they request, and approvers see it when they decide.

03

Clock-ins for support and site staff

Reception, catering, site and administrative staff clock in and out from a browser or a shared device with break types, giving managers a live view of who is in without a paper signing-in book.

04

Reports per department and per term

Attendance and leave reports per department, per period and per person, exported as jobs so a full year is not truncated at a page. The numbers Ledgr pays from at month end are the same records.

Where AMS hands off for a school team

AMS clocks against the staff record HRMS keeps and its approved leave and hours are what Ledgr pays from, so a leave approval here is already in payroll. A leaver marked inactive at year end drops off every people list while their history stays for the report.

Questions school teams ask about AMS

Do teaching staff have to clock in?

No. Clock-in is a policy per role. Many institutions use clock-in for support and site staff and use AMS for teaching staff only for leave requests, approvals and the calendar. Whatever you choose, tell your people; it is a policy, not a default.

Can we import attendance from a card or biometric device at the gate?

Yes. Punches exported from the device are imported and each device PIN is mapped to a staff member once. Night or early shifts for site staff are recorded on the day they belong to.

Can part-time staff have a different entitlement?

Entitlements are set once per leave type for the whole organisation today, so a pro-rated allowance for part-time staff is handled by adjusting the member’s balance rather than by a separate policy. Per-group entitlements are on the roadmap; tell us if they matter to your institution.

Want AMS set up for your school team?

It comes with every plan, alongside the other tools. Tell us your team size and we set up a working organisation for you to try.
