Cadence for startups

Boards for product, growth and ops that do not charge you for hiring your next engineer

A startup’s board tool is chosen at five people and priced at fifty. Every hire is a new seat, every contractor is a debate about whether they need one, and the growth team ends up on a separate free tool that the product team cannot see. Cadence gives every workstream its own project and board, sprints where they help and kanban where they do not, and a seat to everyone — because seats are not what you pay for.

Included in every plan. No per-seat charge, no per-tool upsell.

In practice

What Cadence does for startups

01

A project per workstream, not per budget line

Product, growth, operations and fundraising each get a project with its own board and statuses. The product team runs sprints; growth works a continuous kanban; the founders see both from one login.

02

Custom fields for what you actually track

Add the fields your team argues about — customer, effort, experiment status, launch date — to issues, with sub-tasks so an epic stays one card while the work is split underneath.

03

Comments, mentions and a history you can point at

Discussion on the issue with mentions that notify, and an activity log that answers who moved what and when — useful the day an investor or a customer asks what happened to a feature.

04

Workload and delivery reports as the team grows

Who is over-committed this sprint and what shipped last sprint, per project, read from the boards. When the first engineering manager arrives, the reporting is already there.

One platform

Where Cadence hands off for a startup team

Cadence projects mirror the ones Trackline owns, so when the startup begins selling services or tracking cost per initiative, hours logged in AMS and bugs on the boards already roll up per project. New hires from HRMS land on the boards their role allows without a licence conversation.

Questions startup teams ask about Cadence

Can we bring our existing issues over from another tool?

Yes. Project issues can be imported. On the Team plan we provide import templates and support over email; on the Enterprise plan we do the migration with you, mapping statuses and fields to the ones you define in Cadence.

Does Cadence have automations and a marketplace?

No. It has projects, boards, sprints, issues, sub-tasks, custom fields, comments and reports, and it does not try to replicate an add-on marketplace or a rules engine. A team whose process depends on complex automation is better served by a tool that has one.

Is there a roadmap or timeline view?

Sprints can be linked to milestones in Trackline, which carries schedule health per milestone, and delivery reports show what shipped per sprint. A Gantt-style timeline view on the board itself is not available today.

Want Cadence set up for your startup team?

It comes with every plan, alongside the other tools. Tell us your team size and we set up a working organisation for you to try.
