Search for HR software in the UAE and most of the results now say “AI” on the first screen. The word covers two quite different things, and a buyer in Dubai or Abu Dhabi has to work out which one is on offer before the demo: features built into the product, such as reading a CV against a job, or a connection that lets the assistant you already use, Claude or ChatGPT, read and act in the HR system as you. Both are real. They are bought, priced and governed differently.
This post explains the two kinds, reads what two regional vendors, Bayzat and ZenHR, say about their own AI on their own sites, and sets out what Orbiz HRMS does and does not do for a company in the UAE, including the parts it does not do at all. We wrote the Pakistan version of this guide earlier: AI HR software in Pakistan. The UAE questions are different because the compliance work is different: no income tax on salaries, but WPS, MOHRE registration and a gratuity that every expatriate leaver is owed.
Two kinds of AI, and they are not the same purchase
Built into the product
The vendor runs a model inside its own software. CV parsing and screening, an assessment drafted from a job description, an assistant inside the vendor’s app that answers “how much leave do I have?”, a writing helper for HR letters, a report generated from a plain question. The vendor chooses the model, the vendor’s sub-processors receive the data, and the feature is only as good as that one implementation. You switch it on where it earns its place and leave it off where it does not.
Your own assistant, connected to the system
The second kind is a connector. The assistant you already pay for, Claude or ChatGPT, is given a secure connection to the HR system and acts there as you, with your permissions. Nothing new is installed; the assistant receives a list of actions it may take, such as listing open jobs or adding a candidate, and asks the system on your behalf. The standard behind this is the Model Context Protocol, MCP. ZenHR publishes a connector of this kind for Claude, and so does Orbiz; both are covered below. The assistant’s own plan matters too: Claude’s help pages say custom connectors are available on its Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with Free limited to one, and that on Team and Enterprise an Owner adds the connector before members can use it.
The difference for a buyer: built-in AI is a feature you evaluate like any other, and the data question is answered by the vendor’s sub-processor list. A connector is governed by two things at once, the permissions the HR system gives the person and what the assistant vendor does with the conversation. Ask about both.
What Bayzat and ZenHR say their AI does
We read each vendor’s home page, AI page, pricing page and payroll page on 8 October 2026 and took the claims as written. Nothing was tested hands-on except Orbiz.
| Vendor | AI, in its own words | Price on its site |
|---|---|---|
| Bayzat | An AI Assistant inside its app: answers on policies, leave and health insurance, help with leave applications and document submissions, a writing assistant for HR documents and letters, a Knowledge Hub, AI reporting and a nutritionist chat. Its talent page describes smart candidate matching, retention analytics and survey analysis. Founded in Dubai in 2012; Arabic and English | Not published. The home-page FAQ says pricing depends on company size, modules and requirements, with a Core HR and Payroll bundle and modules added, and sends you to a consultation for a quote |
| ZenHR | Connects HR data to the assistant you use, named as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, through five intelligence skills: workforce, compliance, off-cycle financial transactions, performance and leave. Its Claude marketplace page says the integration runs inside Claude over an MCP connection: workforce questions, reports, Saudisation and Nitaqat status, performance trends and leave patterns. ZenATS, its applicant tracking add-on, is sold with AI. Arabic and English | Not published. Value and Advanced bundles, both Contact Sales, quoted per organisation by headcount, countries and bundle. ZenATS, ZenPE, Testello and succession planning are add-ons priced separately |
| Orbiz HRMS | Built in: résumé parsing, AI screening switched on per job, AI-drafted assessments a person approves, AI grading a person can override. Connected: Claude and ChatGPT through Orbiz MCP. English only | Published in US dollars on the pricing page: one flat price per organisation per month, every Orbiz tool included |
So Bayzat’s AI is mostly the first kind, inside its own app. ZenHR leads with the second kind and sells its ATS as an add-on. Orbiz HRMS has some of each. Side-by-side pages covering the rest of each product, WPS and payroll included, are at Orbiz vs Bayzat and Orbiz vs ZenHR.
What a UAE buyer checks before any of the AI
AI is the last column on the shortlist, not the opening one, because a UAE employer has obligations no model changes. From the law and official guidance behind our guide to payroll in the UAE, four things decide whether an HR system can run a company here at all.
- WPS and the salary information file. An establishment registered with MOHRE pays wages through the Wages Protection System, and each run goes in as a SIF that the bank or exchange house accepts. Bayzat says it generates the SIF itself; ZenHR says it generates country-specific WPS files. Orbiz does not produce a SIF: Ledgr builds the salary sheet and your bank or exchange house builds the file from it.
- MOHRE contract terms. Under Decree-Law 33 of 2021 every private-sector contract is fixed-term and renewable, probation lasts at most six months and notice runs from 30 to 90 days. HRMS records whether a person is on probation or permanent, the job’s employment type and the dates, and its workflows put the probation review in front of the manager on time. It does not model MOHRE’s contract categories or work permits, and it has no visa or Emirates ID expiry reminders.
- End-of-service gratuity. A foreign worker with a year of continuous service is owed 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days a year after that, capped at two years’ wage and paid within 14 days of leaving. Bayzat says it calculates this and the final settlement; ZenHR says it automates gratuity and final settlements by country. Orbiz does not compute it: work it out with the UAE gratuity calculator and enter it on the final settlement in Ledgr as a payment line.
- Arabic. Bayzat and ZenHR both say they run in Arabic and English. Orbiz is in English only, interface and copy. If your HR team, your managers or the employees filing leave need Arabic, that settles the choice before any AI question does.
The AI built into Orbiz HRMS
HRMS is the only Orbiz tool with AI built in, and there are four pieces. Each one reads, suggests or drafts. None of them rejects, moves or hires anyone.
- Résumé parsing. A CV is read into a structured profile: name, current role, summary, years of experience, skills, languages, contact details, work history, education and certifications, with a confidence score. The candidate’s timeline records when parsing started, finished or failed.
- AI screening, per job, off by default. Switch it on for a job and each CV is read against that job’s requirements: a match score, a recommendation from Strong yes to Strong no, matched and missing skills, strengths, concerns and a summary, with the requirements used kept beside the result. There is no score threshold and no automatic rejection; the only setting is on or off. The AI screening page covers it in full.
- AI-generated assessments. Pick the job, five to thirty questions and whether to include coding questions, and HRMS drafts an assessment with a suggested time limit and passing score you can change. You preview it and approve or discard it before any candidate sees it.
- AI grading. On a completed test, a grader can trigger AI grading: each graded answer gets feedback, the issues found and a confidence score. Anyone with grading permission can change a score.
The data question has a plain answer. Screening and parsing run through OpenAI’s API, the CV text and job description are sent only when your organisation uses those features, and OpenAI is listed on our sub-processors page with that scope. If that is not acceptable for a role, leave screening off for it; the pipeline, interviews and scorecards work the same without it.
None of this is specific to the UAE, and we do not pretend it is. A CV read against a job description reads the same in Dubai as in Lahore. What is specific is where the candidate’s data goes and whether the vendor says so in writing.
Claude or ChatGPT, connected through Orbiz MCP
Separate from the AI built into HRMS, every Orbiz member can connect Claude or ChatGPT to their organisation through Orbiz MCP. In HRMS that gives the assistant 14 actions, 9 that read and 5 that change something: the workflow tasks assigned to you, open jobs and candidates. “What HR tasks are waiting on me?”, “add the candidate from this email to the Backend Engineer job” and “move the shortlisted designer to the interview stage” each work as written.
The assistant acts as the person who connected it, with that person’s permissions, so a recruiter’s assistant sees what the recruiter sees and a manager’s sees their own tasks. It cannot reach employee records and documents; interviews, assessments and offer letters; organisation, department and role settings. Nothing can be deleted through it. The same connection reaches Ledgr for each person’s own payslips, which is the question HR hears most in the days after WPS pays out. The full HRMS list is on the HR assistant page, and the Orbiz MCP page covers every tool. Setup is described inside the product, under Settings → Connected AI apps; the consent screen shows a tick per tool, with reading separate from changing.
ZenHR’s connector is the regional comparison. Its page pitches it at HR analytics and compliance reporting, questions a manager asks about the workforce, and it names Claude. Orbiz’s is pitched at the person’s own work, tasks and hiring, for every member, and supports Claude and ChatGPT. Neither is unusual any more; several HR vendors abroad publish connectors of their own, and we compared seven in which HR software works with Claude and ChatGPT.
Questions to ask a UAE vendor about its AI
- Which decisions does it make on its own? Ask specifically whether a score can reject, advance or hide a candidate without a person.
- Can it be switched off, and how narrowly? Per job, per feature, or only for the whole account?
- Where does the data go? Which model provider, hosted where, and is that provider listed as a sub-processor in writing? Candidate CVs carry passport and visa details more often in the UAE than elsewhere.
- For assistants: whose permissions does it use? It should be the employee’s own, not an account that sees everyone, and the organisation should be able to switch the connection off for everyone at once.
- Does the AI touch payroll? A model that drafts a letter is one thing; one that changes a salary or a WPS file is another. Ask what it can change and whether a person confirms it.
- What does it do in Arabic? If the assistant answers employees, ask to see it answer a leave question in Arabic, not just the English demo.
Who this suits in the UAE, and who it does not
Orbiz HRMS suits a consultancy, an agency or a software firm in the UAE that hires steadily in English, wants help with the reading but not with the deciding, and would rather have HR, attendance, payroll and project delivery under one login than four subscriptions. The gratuity is one calculator away and the SIF is the bank’s job, which many small firms already treat as the bank’s job. It is the wrong choice for a company that needs the SIF generated in the payroll system, an Arabic interface, group health insurance sold alongside HR, or an employee assistant inside a mobile app today: the Orbiz mobile app is coming soon, and we do not give dates. For the statutory side of pay, start with payroll in the UAE.
