Desktop app

A desktop app that keeps the timer in the tray — coming soon

Some things want to live outside a browser tab: an attendance timer that survives closing the browser, idle detection that sees the whole desktop rather than one page, and screen recording that is one shortcut away. A desktop app is planned for those. It is not available yet.

Nothing to install yet — the web app already works on this device.

What we are planning

What the desktop app is planned to do

A desktop companion for attendance, idle detection and screen recording. Coming soon — the browser does all of it today.

01

Attendance timer in the system tray

Clock in from the tray and see the running timer without a browser tab open, with break controls one click away.

02

System-level idle detection

Idle detection that observes the desktop rather than a single tab, so a pause is decided from real inactivity — reported to the same server-side rules the web app uses today.

03

Native screen recording and screenshots

Start a Grabr recording or capture and annotate a screenshot from a global shortcut, with uploads continuing in the background.

One platform

A surface, not a second system

The desktop app will be a thin client on the same gateway, organisation and roles as the browser. Idle policy stays server-decided: the app would report activity evidence and the server would apply the rule your admin configured, exactly as the web app does now.

Questions about the desktop app

Is there an Orbiz desktop app I can download today?

Not yet. The desktop app is coming soon. Attendance with inactivity detection and Grabr screen recording both work in a desktop browser today, so nothing is blocked while you wait.

Will the desktop app change how idle time is judged?

It will see more of the desktop than a browser tab can, but the decision stays on the server. The desktop app is planned to report activity evidence to the same inactivity rules your admin configures today, so policy is consistent whichever client someone uses.

Which operating systems are planned?

Windows and macOS are planned for the first release. Linux is not yet decided. Use the contact form if a particular platform matters to your team.

Want to know when the desktop app ships?

Tell us through the contact form and we will let you know when it is available. Until then, every tool works in the browser on any device.
