Cadence for software & IT services

Sprints and boards for every engineer and every client project, with nobody left off the board to save a seat

A software house runs two kinds of work at once: its own product or platform, and a row of client engagements each with its own backlog, release rhythm and stakeholder. The board tool is where both live, and the per-seat licence is why the QA contractor, the account manager and the client’s product owner are never on it. Cadence gives every project its own board and every member a seat, because seats are free.

Included in every plan. No per-seat charge, no per-tool upsell.

In practice

What Cadence does for software & IT services

01

A project per engagement, a board per project

Client work and internal work sit side by side as separate projects, each with its own board, its own statuses and its own sprints. A scrum team plans in sprints; a maintenance retainer flows on a kanban board; both are the same product.

02

Issues that carry what engineers actually track

Type, priority, assignee and the custom fields your team defines — environment, severity, client ticket reference — on every issue, with sub-tasks so a feature stays one item on the board while the work is split underneath it.

03

Discussion on the issue, not in chat

Comments with mentions notify the right engineer, and the activity history records who moved what and when. When a client asks why a ticket slipped, the answer is on the ticket.

04

Delivery and workload reports per sprint and per project

What shipped this sprint, who is over-committed next sprint, and how many bugs each client project produced — read straight from the boards, and fed into Trackline’s quality view without a second entry.

Where Cadence hands off for a software team

Cadence projects mirror the ones Trackline owns, so a board is never an orphan: the hours engineers log in AMS against the same project, the bugs counted on the board and the milestones in Trackline all describe one engagement. An engineer who joins in HRMS is on the boards their role allows the same day.

Questions software teams ask about Cadence

Can clients or contractors be given access to a single project board?

Yes. Members are invited into your organisation and given a role; roles are composed from permissions per tool, so a contractor or a client-side product owner can be granted access to the boards of one project and nothing else. There is no per-seat charge, so inviting them costs nothing.

Does Cadence replace Jira for a software team?

For most teams up to a few hundred people, yes: projects, boards, sprints, issues, sub-tasks, custom fields, comments and reports are all there. It does not replicate Jira’s marketplace of add-ons or its automation rules engine, so a team whose workflow depends on those should keep Jira.

How do bug counts reach the client’s delivery report?

Issues typed as bugs on a project’s board are counted by Trackline automatically and shown against that engagement’s milestones alongside hours and cost. Nothing is exported or re-keyed; the board is the source.
